Explore the Saxonia Collection
Coined by A. Lange & Söhne, the Saxonia suite can be summed up with one phrase—"mechanical essence." As they capture this essence, their goal is not to include as many complications or parts as possible, but rather to find the best mechanical solutions that are technically optimized and aesthetically pleasing. One instance of doing this took place in 2015 when they released the L941.1 caliber movement which has 164 parts, 4 screwed gold chatons, 21 rubies, and a power reserve of 45 hours when fully wound. If you're intrigued by Lange's approach to Saxonia watchmaking, you can find various complications in this collection as well, like tourbillons , chronographs , and GMTs . You can also find simpler pieces that never compromise style like the Grand Saxonia ref. 307.029. Learn more about a few stand out timepieces for more detail.

Saxonia Thin
Released in 2011, this piece continues to be Lange's flattest watch offering. This Saxonia watch focuses on the essential functions of a mechanical watch—displaying the hours and minutes. Its well-organized dial structure with long baton appliques in solid gold make for a handsome, sleek dress piece. Additionally, its L093.1 caliber delivers wearers an impressive 72-hour power reserve. Saxonia Double & Triple Split

The Double Split has a rattrapante hand for the central stop seconds and elapsed minutes at the 3 o'clock, measuring two intervals of up to 30 minutes. On the other hand, the Triple Split has an hour counter at the 12 that also has a rattrapante hand, allowing one to time intervals of up to 12 hours. Both pieces have a small seconds dial at the 9 as well as the brand's distinct UP/DOWN power reserve display.

Saxonia Dual Time
If you're an avid traveler, this A. Lange & Söhne Saxonia watch is a great option—it displays a second time zone, but when you're home, it only displays local time. Additionally, you can set the rhodium-plated gold hour hand backward or forward in hour increments using the push pieces at the 8 and 10 o'clock. Doing this uncovers a second blue hour hand that will display the time at home when traveling. Lastly, this model features the calibre L086.2 and a 72-hour power reserve.

Saxonia Annual Calendar
By far one of the collection's most complicated pieces, this annual calendar watch features three subdials and an outsize date display that you only have to correct once a year. For those who prefer an automatic watch, this one boasts the automatic calibre L085-1 SAX-0-MAT with a three-quarter plate made of gold or platinum. Lastly, it has a patented zero reset that allows you to set the time to the exact second. Learn more about the nuances between perpetual vs. annual calendars by reading this expert article.
